Halloween is on its way and to help indulge in the halloween spirit and get your scare on, the annual “Haunted Calgary” presents:
Hollywood Horror. This isn’t just any haunted house… this is Calgary, Alberta's biggest and largest scaled haunted house which is hosted annually by volunteers and sponsors. This special event donates 100% of its funds and food raised to charity organizations in the near area. So why not do some good for your community whilst screaming your toosh off this October?

What to Expect

This event comes with a warning: enter at your own risk. Little is still known about the design of each haunted house as construction is still underway according to the Haunted Calgary Facebook page. However, the scare is themed off Hollywood classics so we can only expect to see lurking vampires, troubled maniacs, and maybe a little IT inspired clowns.

Times, Location, and Tickets

Haunted Calgary understands some individuals aren’t into the entire 10/10 guts and horror. Thus, the production team has set up two different “scare times” which allows for families to enjoy the events earlier during the day while adults and teens can enjoy the fright at night! To be exact, times available for a “low scare” grade will be between 2pm-4pm while the “high scare” will be between 6pm-10pm. Econo Lodge South Calgary is a quick 30 minute drive to Rocky Ridge Bay where Haunted Calgary will be held this October 2017.

As stated before this event is 100% pro bono, so tickets are by donation only. However, the Haunted Calgary Site recommends a $10 donation along with some non-perishable food items. This is an event Econo Lodge South Calgary is proud to advertise and our staff would be more than happy to help you with your travel to and from the event!

One of the most exciting public market, entertainment and dining experiences to come to Calgary in years is now open just 30 mins from EconoLodge South Calgary.

Home to some of Alberta’s finest artisan vendors, Granary Road is an innovative project nestled in the rolling foothills just a few minutes south of Calgary. Showcasing a public market, an active learning park and a greenhouse, the attraction blends exhilarating learning experiences with delicious dining options.

  • Overflowing with old world charm, there is plenty of family fun on the menu too, with a line-up of daily goat stampedes, chocolate-making demonstrations and meet-and-greets with the farmers who grow the attraction’s produce. Here are the highlights…

    Animals and Agriculture

Check out the four-storey ant farm, take a slide down a corkscrew slide into a giant apple, fly on the  mini zip line that ends inside a gargantuan pear, bounce on lily pad trampolines and see a bee hive that has its own internal live camera feed.

  • Mouth Watering Treats

Food and beverage vendors on site offer everything from sculpted cotton candy to traditional bratwurst. Old fashioned bike carts deliver ice cream treats, while the Beehive Snack Shack provides a variety of grab-and-go options.

    Specialty Vendors

The Granary’s market features more than 40 vendors offering everything from artisan cheese and old-world baked goods, to classic confectionary and homemade pasta.

    The Greenhouse

Granary Road is the first market in Calgary to have its own greenhouse on site.  The greenhouse supplies the produce for the market vendors and the Granary’s restaurants, as well as offering the freshest produce available to market-goers.

There are few things that really Make You Wanna - as Usher would say - throw your cowboy hat in the air, but if the news that Usher is coming to Cow Town for this year’s Calgary Stampede doesn’t do it, I don’t know what will!

In what is surely set to be one of the hottest shows in Alberta this summer Usher and The Roots (yep, the house band from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon) will own the stage at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday, July 15 as part of the 2017 Virgin Mobile Stampede Concert Series.

With an incredible 178 awards and 310 nominations to his name, Usher has been ranked by the Recording Industry Association of America as one of the best-selling artists in American music history, having sold a whopping 75 million albums worldwide.

Formed in Philadelphia in 1987, three-time GRAMMY winners, The Roots, have honed their eclectic contribution to hip-hop and pop music through a tireless touring ethic. The group has released 14 studio albums and two live LPs, including hallmark recordings Do You Want More?!!!??!, Things Fall Apart, The Roots Come Alive and Phrenology.

You can buy your tickets for the show here.

The Calgary Stampede itself runs from July 7 to 16. The event celebrates the people, the animals, the land, the traditions and the values that make up the unique spirit of the West. Dating back to 1912, The Stampede attracts more than one million people each July and offers the largest purse in outdoor rodeo – that’s more than $2 million.
